Snow capped Mount Fuji behind pink cherry blossoms over a lake

Mt Fuji cherry blossom forecast

Fuji, pagodas and lakes framed by blossoms, about a week after Tokyo.
Early to mid April Full bloom around 10 April

When do cherry blossoms bloom in Mt Fuji?

The Fuji Five Lakes sit around 850 metres above sea level, so blossoms arrive about one to two weeks after central Tokyo. That gives you a second chance if you miss the city peak.

Mornings are best for clear views of the mountain. Clouds often build by midday, so plan Chureito pagoda early and keep the lakeshore for the afternoon.

Tips for Mt Fuji

  • Visibility is best before 10 am
  • Fuji Shibazakura follows in late April
  • Day tours from Tokyo sell out at peak
